Accessibility statement
Built for everyone downtown
A welcoming downtown should be easy for everyone to explore, online and in person. Here is the standard this site aims for.
In shortThis site works with screen readers, keyboards, zoom and other tools. If something gets in your way, tell us.
- Standard
- Written to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Text is checked against contrast minimums in the light, dark and high-contrast themes. Brand colors appear as fills behind dark blue text so they stay readable.
- Display settings
- Text size, theme, high contrast, reduced motion, extra text spacing, a plain typeface, underlined links, plain-language summaries, visible image descriptions and a reading ruler. Your choices are saved only in your browser and carry across every page.
- Built with
- Native HTML links, buttons and form fields, a skip link on every page, labeled landmarks and breadcrumbs, and tables for schedules and prices so screen readers can read them row by row.
- Events
- Every event page has a way to ask for an accommodation before you go.
- Found a barrier?
- Email downtown@kalamazoocity.org or call 311 with what happened and what you were using. The downtown team will reply and work on a fix.
